Join us at the Garden of Eden Bed and Breakfast for a week of eco-adventure designed to renew your spirit and invigorate your mind.

Why participate in a retreat?  We do the scheduling and make all arrangements for you to get the most out of seeing Bocas Del Toro.  The eco-retreats are designed for the adventurous traveler who doesn’t want to sit still, but also enjoys a relaxing sunrise and sunset.   Our eco-adventure retreats are designed for small groups to get the best interaction with the guides and staff who will be accompanying you through the week.  These Eco weeks are for those who are spending way too much time behind a desk trying to keep up with the corporate world and for anyone who is spending hours each day planning meals and scheduling events for everyone else and needs a break from the routine.

What is an "Eco Retreat"?

It's an opportunity to connect with nature, to renew and invigorate your body, mind and spirit.

Designed for the adventurous traveler: all arrangments made by our friendly staff.

Suggested for small groups (12 max) for optimum enjoyment and interaction with guides and staff who will accompany you throughout the week.

Typical Eco-Retreat Day

After arriving to Bocas Del Toro airport you will be greeted and brought by water taxi to The Garden of Eden, which will be your base for the next 7 days/6 nights.  At the Garden you will be greeted with welcome refreshments and orientation to the week.

A typical day on the island will look like:

Wake up to a Caribbean sunrise and yoga by the pool, a short kayak around the mangrove islands or a wildlife/birding hike.

Then enjoy a healthy Caribbean breakfast

After breakfast set out for the day to local gems such as:

  • Zapatillia Islands and Coral Caye for snorkeling
  • Hike to the Bahia Honda natural springs and caves.
  • Hike to pristine Polo or Long Beach for a day in the sun and a beach BBQ.
  • Organic Chocolate farm and flora/fauna tour and hike
  • Discover Scuba class
  • Explore Bastimentos town and walking hike of local flora and fauna workshop.

At the end of the day you can enjoy a glass of wine by the pool while watching the Caribbean Sunset.  Enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by a local chef with fresh local ingredients and discuss the next day’s adventure.

Weekly schedule will be arranged based on weather and availability of guides.
If you are interested in learning how to scuba dive or are you already experienced and want a week of diving in warm, clear, Caribbean waters.  See our scheduled retreats for learning how to scuba dive or for certified divers.

About Our Staff and Guides

Our staff has a combined total of over 50 years in hospitality and the Bocas del Toro region.   Additionally we use local indigenous guides where appropriate for our tours who speak English and are knowledgeable about the region and the ecosystems you will be encountering.

About Our Food

All meals are prepared with fresh local ingredients and cooked in what we call a Caribbean-Bocas style.  While we can accommodate dietary restrictions we specialize in providing flavors and tastes that are found in the region and cultures that are represented in Bocas Del Toro.  Our meals are served family style and tend to focus on local caught fish and seafood but we do prepare chicken, pork, and beef dishes.

Cost of Retreat:  $1,400 per person based on double occupancy

50% deposit due at time of booking.  Full payment due 30 days prior to workshop.  Deposit is fully refundable up to 30 days prior to workshop.  After 30 days the deposit will be refunded if your position can be rebooked.  We strongly recommend using travel insurance.

Please be aware that you do not need to be an athlete to participate but you do need to be physically fit for the excursions – while you are welcome to opt out of any daily activity – to fully appreciate Bocas del Toro and the unique ecosystems that we have we recommend you participate as much as possible.  You will need to be able to get in out of boats in the surf – several locations we go to do not have docks, there will be hikes of 1 – 4 miles in hot/humid climates, since it is the rainforest there most likely there will be some rain and mud to deal with, and of course we have insects.  It is the tropics!  Kayak trips require being on the water from 1-4 hours.

We cannot accommodate any handicaps for these retreats.  Garden of Eden Bed and Breakfast is not handicap friendly.
