A Guide to Dining Near Bocas Del Toro Hotels

October 5, 2016

One of the best parts about exploring a new country is experiencing their local cuisine. Food can often tell you a lot about a culture with just one bite, so if you want a true Bocas del Toro experience, you have to try the food! Here’s where you should go when you stay at one of the Bocas del Toro hotels:

El Ultimo Refugio

Widely considered one of the best restaurants in all of Bocas del Toro, El Ultimo Refugio specializes in tasty Caribbean dishes. A customer favorite is the red curry calamari and miso-crusted grouper, which will have your taste buds celebrating your arrival in Bocas del Toro. Not only is the food incredible at El Ultimo Refugio, but the views are breathtaking. The restaurant features open air seating looking out onto the ocean so you can have a romantic evening watching the sunset while you enjoy the food.

El Limbo
If you want to enjoy the beautiful views of the water every time you dine out, stop by El Limbo for your next meal. El Limbo is located directly on the water. In fact, guests are so close they can actually see tiny seahorses and fish swimming underneath the water’s surface. The menu here is always changing, but one thing remains the same: it’s fresh. Most of the seafood specials for the day are brought to the dock by native fisherman who glide across the water on kayaks.

Up in the Hill
Head inland and plan a trip to Up in the Hill, a coffee shop and organic farm which is literally up in the hills of Bocas del Toro, perched on top of the highest hill on Bastimentos Island. Visit the coffee shop for a fine selection of natural teas, fruit juices, chocolate drinks and kombucha tea made right there on the eco-friendly farm. But, you definitely can’t leave without tasting one of their delicious brownies or chocolate treats which are made from 100% pure organic cacao from the farm. On your way out, don’t forget to buy souvenirs from the gift shop for everyone who couldn’t come on the trip with you! Learn more about the Up in the Hill organic farm and eco-lodges.
