What Does Bocas Del Toro Have to Offer its Visitors?

The beautiful area of Bocas Del Toro is an archipelago with nine primary islands along with thousands of much smaller ones. The water is unbelievably clear with isolated stretches of beach signaling a break away from from the stress of life. One of the mainly visited islands is Colon. It is a busy tourist destination with lots of opportunities to explore and go on excursions in boat taxis in order to hop from one island to the next. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect on a few of the islands.
Isla Zapatillas
Isla Zapatillas is one of the most attractive beach areas in Bocas Del Toro. Although, it is one of the smaller islands, it is just as nice as the larger ones. The waters are calm on one side for those who love snorkeling. On the other side, it is more sandy and an excellent place to host a picnic and relax. There are tour companies that take tourists out to snorkel or watch the dolphins. It is important to take food with you because there are no shops or restaurants on this island.
Starfish Beach
Starfish Beach is located on the western side of Bocas Del Toro. It is a short walk from the bus stop, Bocas Del Drago and is a nice getaway from the crowds that are in the town. You will enjoy the calm waters that are filled with many starfish. Food is sold on the beach. If you love to snorkel or swim, this is a great area to do so. The shuttle bus leaves from the town and it will only cost you $5 round trip.
Paki’s Point and Punta Bluff
From the town of Bocas Del Toro to Plunta Bluff, you can rent a bike. It only takes approximately an hour to get there. It is worth the ride. Paki’s Point is halfway there and you can stop for drinks and food to cool down before continuing the journey. You can stop for a while to enjoy the surf. You don’t need a surf board because you can always rent one. At Punta Bluff, though, is where you will find the most tall and powerful waves for surfing. Be cautious of rip tides. Swimming is not recommended nor is it safe.
Red Frog Beach
Red Frog Beach has a long stretch of magnificently tranquil waters. You can find this beach on Isla Bastimentos by taking a short $7 boat ride from the town of Bocas Del Toro. You can hang out at various bars for the entire day or swim in the warm water, enjoying the soft sand for sun bathing. Admission fee to enter the island is only $3.
