But, don’t let these worries and wonders ruin the experience of planning your trip! Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions:

When should you visit?

A lot of countries have certain seasons that are better suited for tourists, but you don’t have to worry about coming to Bocas del Toro resorts at the wrong time of the year. The sun is always shining, although there are certain times of the year where you may see rainstorms. From June to December, there are usually rainy periods for short periods of the day, so if you want full days of sunshine, work your trip around these months.

What language do the natives speak?

Spanish is the official language of Panama, but many natives speak English conversationally or fluently. In fact, most of the natives who work in the tourism industry are fluent in English, so you should be able to communicate with these individuals without any issues.

Will kids enjoy the trip?

This will vary depending on your provider. Before traveling to Bocas del Toro, check with your cell phone provider to see if you will still have service.

What time zone is Bocas del Toro in?

Bocas del Toro does not recognize daylight savings time, so their time zones will shift throughout the year. During April to October, Bocas del Toro is in the same time zone as the central United States. In all other months, it is in the same time zone as the eastern United States.

What about money?

Panama does have its own currency, but U.S. currency is widely accepted in Panama, so you don’t have to worry about exchanging cash for other forms of currency. Some restaurants, Bocas del Toro resorts and other tourist destinations accept credit cards as a form of payment, but you shouldn’t rely solely on your card to get you through your trip. Bring some cash in smaller bills so you are able to tip those who help you on your journey. They usually don’t carry change to break big bills, so if you want to say thank you, keep smaller bills handy.
